nervesMore and more people are really starting to jump onto the wellness revolution. Everywhere I look now there are people talking and reading about diet, exercise and positive thinking, and it is fantastic. However, there is one key link that many people are missing - which links all of these things together and controls every cell, tissue and organ in your body.

'My brain?' you say. Well, you're close. But I want you to think of your brain like a computer. Now if you don't touch your computer, what will it do? That's right, nothing. It has all of the information there, but until it receives some input, you won't get any output. Your brain is just the same. It needs input from your internal and external environment before it can give any output. This input comes from your nervous system.

The thing that many people are missing is that if you are eating, thinking and moving in a very healthy way, but your nervous system is not processing it healthily, then you are not going to receive their full benefits.

Think of it this way. If you're getting lots and lots of fantastic vitamins in your healthy diet, but your nervous system supplying your gut isn't functioning properly, are you going to get the full benefit of those vitamins? Well, probably not, because if your gut isn't getting the right messages, it may not produce the right chemicals to help you digest and absorb those nutrients.

Why would there be interference to your nervous system? Well, stress basically: physical, chemical and emotional stressors such as poor posture or constant tension can cause a misalignment or restriction to one of the vertebrae in your spine (a subluxation). Left untreated, this will cause interference to your nervous system and hinder all of those well-intended lifestyle efforts you are making.

So what is the answer? If you feel like you've been making the necessary lifestyle changes but haven't been getting the results you want to see, perhaps it's time to get your nervous system checked by a chiropractor.
